What Is a Face Analysis Report? A Beginner's Guide

A face analysis report turns a selfie into measurements, ratios, and feature notes. Here's what these reports contain, how to read them, and what they're actually for.

A face analysis report is a document generated from your photo that describes your facial geometry in numbers and notes. Where a single tool might tell you one thing — your face shape, your canthal tilt, your symmetry score — a full report pulls all of those measurements together into one organized view of your face. Here is what these reports contain and how to read one.

What goes into a face report

A thorough face report typically covers several layers of information:

Landmarks and the face map. Before anything can be measured, the software detects key points on your face — eye corners, nose base, chin tip, cheekbones, brow edges, and more. A face map visualizes these landmarks directly on your photo, so you can see exactly where every measurement came from.

Core measurements. These are the raw numbers behind everything else: face length, face width, the width of the eyes, nose, and mouth, jaw angle, and the distance between your features.

Ratios and proportions. The raw numbers are combined into ratios — facial thirds, fifths, and other comparisons — that are the language of facial analysis.

Feature-level notes. Each major feature (eyes, nose, lips, jaw, chin) gets a summary of its characteristics, so you do not have to interpret raw numbers on your own.

How to read the report

The most important habit is to read a report descriptively, not judgmentally. Every number is a description of your geometry compared to a reference — it is not a score of your worth or a ranking of your face. When a ratio sits away from the reference, it simply describes where your face differs from the average. Different is not automatically worse.

Two practical tips:

  • Start with the face map. Understanding which points drove the measurements makes the rest of the report trustworthy.
  • Read the feature notes. The prose summaries translate the numbers into plain language, which is far more useful than a bare list of ratios.

What a report is for

Face reports are most useful for:

  • Understanding your own features with a vocabulary you can use with a stylist, barber, or makeup artist.
  • Giving a professional a consistent reference — hairstylists, eyewear specialists, and consultants all benefit from seeing your measurements laid out.
  • Tracking changes over time, such as body-fat-related changes in facial definition.

Get your own report

A full face report builds all of these layers from a single photo — the landmark face map, measurements, ratios, and feature notes — and lets you view or export a printable PDF of the result so you can take it with you to an appointment.

The honest takeaway: a face analysis report is a powerful way to understand your facial geometry, as long as you treat it as a descriptive map of your features rather than a verdict on them.
